Please Prepare for Departure

Our first flight was from Las Vegas to San Francisco. Zach clearly needs to work on his selfie.

I was super tired and slept the entire flight, so it was a quick one for me. When we got to San Francisco we met with the scout, Derek, that had signed Zach to the Rakuten Eagles. Up until that point I was still super nervous. Once we met with him, he ensured me that is was all going to be okay. Zach doesn't ask many questions, so basically at that point I thought we were being thrown into a pack of wolves to fend for ourselves. Derek had told us that we would have an interpreter with us for the first few weeks, which made me feel so much better. He also told me that there are many wives in Japan and they are living in the same complex as us. Whew, the nerves were finally starting to subside.

Our next flight was from San Francisco to Tokyo. The longest flight of my life.

When I first walked onto the plane I couldn't believe the size of our seats. I mean, I felt like the Queen of England. We had our own recliner seat and our own TV! I guess all the movies I downloaded on my iPad no longer made the cut.

I think Zach felt like the King of England, too. The next few pictures are of the food that I had on the plane. Do not even begin to judge me. Once again, I didn't know when I would see American food again. Boy did I pig out. Every opportunity I had to eat, I did!

During the flight I watched 3 movies and took a nice long nap. Zach was snoring away, I actually had to wake him up for breakfast. Me on the other hand... I heard that food cart and I was up!

When we got to Tokyo, we had to go through immigration/customs. They weren't going to let us into Japan because we didn't have our visas with us. I can't say I was bummed. They told me I could be there 90 days. I thought he said 19 and I was so excited. In my head I thought, "I am going home in 19 days! This is going to be the best trip of my life!" I realized he had said 90 days, not 19. Darn, I was in it for the long haul. About 10 minutes later, we finally got through. We had to get our luggage and take it through another scan. Finally, we were at our gate. Of course I was so hot and thirsty. I really don't think they use AC here. I had to get a water to drink. Crap, I have no Japanese money. Maybe they will take American? Maybe I can use my credit card? Please, please take my credit card.
Thank The Lord, they accepted my credit card. Um... 302? I am so hoping this isn't $302. Oh well, I was thirsty.

Our last and final flight was from Tokyo to Sendai.

We had the sweetest, cutest flight attendant, ever. She offered me Japanese food, but I only had a little snack and candy. She told me it was a rice cookie. Oh yum, I love cookies. Hmm... I guess they call crackers, cookies. At that point I had no idea. I also ordered an iced green tea. In my head I was thinking how delicious it was going to be. It was going to taste just like the kind I ordered at Starbucks, right? Nope, once again I was wrong. There was no sugar in that tea! Zach was sleeping the whole time. He didn't get to enjoy all of the new treats.

The flight was over and we were finally in Sendai, Japan! Let the adventures begin!
