A Day From...

Sunday, July 6, 2014

I decided to go back to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch before the game. I ended up ordering the same salad that I had the night before. It was just too good not to get again!

On my walk over to the stadium, I passed this really cool creation.

When I got to the stadium, I was just about drenched. Even with my umbrella. The typhoon was on its way! I got to the information booth and told them I needed a player's ticket. I didn't tell them. I showed them the translation on my phone. They told me to go to ticket booth 5. Ok, I can handle that. I got to ticket booth 5 and they looked at me like I was crazy. Once again, I showed them my phone. They pointed down the steps. By that point my umbrella had blown inside out and my stress level was rising. I went down the steps they pointed to and ended up in a parking garage. Right then and there I was ready to just about have a breakdown. I walked back up the steps realizing I was on my own in trying to figure this one out. I walked down different steps, around a corner, under the stadium, and finally found the ticket booth I needed. They gave me my ticket and pointed to the elevator. Could someone please just walk me to where I needed to be? Obviously the whole pointing thing wasn't working out. I got up to the correct level and found the section I needed to be in. I showed the girl my ticket and thankfully she walked me up to my seat. I was in the second to last row in the dome stadium. I felt like I could touch the sky and it was about 100 degrees. Could my day get any worse? It did. Someone was sitting in my seat. That would happen. After what seemed like 20 minutes and everyone staring at me, I was finally in my seat. Then, I realized after drinking 2 glasses of water at lunch, I had to go to the bathroom. I held it for the next 4 innings. I was not even about to get up after what I just experienced. I watched the last couple of innings on the TV in the concourse. By the way, I went through all of that and Zach still wasn't playing because of his arm.

When the game was over, we headed to the airport to fly back to Sendai. It was still pouring rain and we had to walk out to the airplane. We had to walk out to the airplane because it was about the size of a toy. We all got on the plane soaking wet. Awesome. After a few minutes of taking off, the plane started to shake so bad. They told us it was normal. Listen lady, I fly all the time and the shaking was not normal. Well, goodbye life. I thought for sure I was a goner. The plane only had 2 seats on each side and I was starting to feel really claustrophobic. I needed a shot of something strong. Nope, they only had juice and coffee. I ended up putting my headphones on and looked at pictures of Hercules to keep my mind off what was happening. We landed safely 2 hours later. Thank you Lord. When we got to Sendai, there were about 100 fans waiting for autographs. Tomo, Zach, and I ran out to get a taxi. 40 minutes? Heck no, we weren't waiting. We ran over to get on the train. "I'm sorry, the train isn't working because someone jumped in front of it and committed suicide." I'm telling you, I can't make this stuff up. This was my day, people. Well, looks like the taxi is looking better and better. Luckily, it was only about a 15 minute wait.
We made it back to our new apartment! That was about the only thing good that happened. Oh, and the Pizza Hut we ordered since we were starving. We are so happy in our apartment. It is so nice and everything inside is brand spankin' new. Finally, a place to call home!

A couple things about the apartment...
The washer and dryer are the same thing. It washes and it dries. I am not sure how I feel about that yet.
There is a mirror in the shower. Strange. That's all I'm going to say.
The bathroom sink is attached to the top of the toilet. When you flush, the water comes out to wash your hands. Zach thinks it's toilet bowl water. We wash our hands in the other bathroom sink.
There is no plug in the kitchen sink to hold the water in. That one I can't figure out.
The oven is smaller than a toaster oven. No way am I fitting anything inside. I was going to be Little Suzy Homemaker and bake cookies. There goes my plan.
There are 3 different trash cans.

Regardless of everything that I'm not used to, I love this place! The apartment that is.
