Fukuoka

Friday, July 4, 2014

We had to wake up early to take the bullet train to Fukuoka for Zach to get an MRI on his arm. The bullet train reminded me of an airplane, but better!

While I was waiting for Zach to get his MRI, I felt like I caught every virus possible. Everyone around me was coughing and hacking up a lung. Just great. I had my shirt up over my face. Where was that face cover when I needed it? When Zach came back out to the waiting room, he had a look of confusion on his face. The doctor told him the reason he got hit was because his hips and throwing arm were tight. Wait, he was there for his forearm, not his hips or shoulder. The results of the MRI showed that he had bleeding in his muscle. The doctor recommended that he rest for 2-3 weeks. If you know Zach, you know he can't even rest for 2-3 minutes. Every time he puts pressure on his forearm by squeezing a bat, the bleeding gets worse which causes more swelling. Rest is his only option! It's going to be a long healing process for me. I... I mean him.
When we left the hospital, we went down a little one-way road. As I was taking in all of the scenery, a truck came down the road. Holy crap, it was not a one-way! The road was more narrow than a one-way road at home. I kid you not. Just when I thought all of the excitement was over, we passed this construction worker. Let's be real, how is he going to direct traffic?

We finally made it to the hotel and Zach had to go right to the field. I was starving. I only had a yogurt at 6:00 and by that time it was 3:00. All of the restaurants in the hotel were already done serving lunch, so I had to order room service. I ordered a small salad, fruit, and a BLT. When I placed the order for the BLT, I asked for cheese on the sandwich and the bacon crispy. In Japan, they have 2 kinds of bacon. Really thick, fatty bacon and crispy bacon. Apparently they thought I wanted the BLT sandwich with a side of crispy bacon and a side of assorted cheese. No wonder my bill was $94.

Zach didn't want to eat the food at the field, so I ordered him a sandwich for dinner. It looked good. Ham, cheese, mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Minus the tomato. Oh hold on just a minute. The "tomato" was actually raw salmon! Who puts raw salmon on a ham and cheese sandwich? I am just going to stop questioning anything anymore. Our life is full of surprises.
