My First Game

Friday, June 27, 2014

The view out of our hotel in the morning was pretty neat to see.

We couldn't find anything near our hotel to eat for lunch. After walking blocks and blocks, we finally found McDonald's. It was about as good as it was going to get. When ordering, I'm not quite sure they understood us. We ended up with a hamburger, a cheeseburger, a quarter pounder, chicken nuggets, 3 medium french fries, and 2 sodas. That was just for the 2 of us. Zach and I both looked at the tray and started cracking up. We were hungry, but not that hungry!

At night, I went to my first game in Japan. Luckily, my cab ride was safer than the last one. When I got to the game, I entered through the player's entrance. A girl staff member showed me to my seat. I sat down and realized that it was 5:30 and I was hungry. I got a KFC chicken sandwich. I could only eat about 1/4 of the sandwich. It was not good. The chicken still had all the skin on it. Gross!
It was my first time in a dome stadium. I was so overwhelmed with everything going on that it was hard to focus on the game. They have cheerleaders and both teams have a huge cheering section with a band. I felt like I was at an arena football game. In the middle of the 5th inning, everyone was singing and dancing to the YMCA. I could actually sing along for once.
After the 5th inning, I went down to get an iced coffee. It was the first stadium I've been to with iced coffee. Yum! When I went back to my seat, the guy behind me had his shoes off and his feet, stinky feet, on my chair. Are you kidding me? I sat down and he moved his feet. I swear I could still smell them. And his breath. About 10 minutes later, I realized the guy next to me was trying to take pictures of me. For the next 4 innings, I tried to hide behind my purse. Was he freakin serious? I'm clearly not the professional baseball player here, I'm just the wife. Was it that or was he taking a picture of my new purse? Ha!
Anyway, during the 7th inning, the crowd blew up balloons and sang a song. At the end of the song, they let the balloons go. I had no idea what the heck was going on. It was kind of awkward, but fun at the same time.
I can honestly say that the game was more fun than an American game. There was so much going on and great people watching! Oh, and the Eagles won, so it was a good night!
